News from BIG SHOW |
| |
BIG SHOW is excited to announce that we were recently retained by Larkspur Hotels and Restaurants to help them produce their SOTB (State of the Business) Summit this February 27 through 29 in Monterey, CA. Continuing BIG SHOW's involvement in the "green" industry, this conference is focused on Larkspur Hotel and Restaurants’ sustainability and will positively impact the operations of each of its properties. This company is not new to the idea of environmental consciousness and in fact has been practicing what they preach for quite a while. Now, they are ready to broaden this philosophy and focus throughout the organization, as well as put measures in place to track their own successes.
BIG SHOW is delighted by this opportunity to partner with Larkspur Hotels and Restaurants!

Creative solutions to unexpected event challenges |
| |
Every event has its challenges – there are so many factors to keep track of that it's inevitable that something will catch you off guard. However, planning ahead and working closely with your event producer will help ensure that contingencies are in place to deal with unexpected pitfalls. Here are a few big challenges that could come up and some BIG SHOW solutions for them:
- What if there's a strike, and your keynote speaker or attendees won't cross the picket line?
Don't wait until a crisis is upon you to figure out a solution. Instead, do it the BIG SHOW way and start planning during the first conversation with your event producer. At BIG SHOW, we've thought through many contingencies over the years and we can make all the arrangements you'll need to address any unforeseen challenges. For example, if deciding to beam the keynote's speech in via remote feed is the best option, we'll set up a remote satellite feed location. And if a last-minute change to your event location is the call, or if different vendors are needed, we'll take care of all the arrangements for you. Whatever your needs, together we will build these backup plans into your overall event blueprint and be ready to execute if such a situation arises instead of scrambling on the day of your event.
- What if your event space cannot give you enough days to do your install properly?
You've found the perfect venue – and everyone else thinks it's perfect too. As a result, you do not have adequate shoulder dates for load-in to stage your event the way you want to. What do you do? Start your creative thinking around this as soon as you know your dates. BIG SHOW will work with you to think efficiently and creatively: What can be built offsite instead of at the venue? What can be prepackaged and delivered? How much more staff will you need in these compressed hours to get the job done (and how much coffee will you need to brew to get through those late nights of installation)? Planning ahead, thinking outside the box and being prepared is what BIG SHOW does best to ensure a smooth load-in and installation no matter what the time frame.
- What if - - -?
No matter what the problem, BIG SHOW will work with you closely to find creative solutions, develop plans and secure resources. Contact us the next time you have a challenge with your event – or let us be part of your team from the start – so that you can ensure the most successful event possible.

Is the construction of your exhibit or conference hall green? |
| |
It's a myth that "going green" has to add costs and workload to your exhibition or conference hall design and set up. In fact, some simple but important changes can be almost seamless to your attendees but significantly decrease the impact your event has on our environment. By now, you're aware of the many ways to use recyclable or compostable paper and food products without incurring a lot of extra cost. But, how do you find ways to build your scenic sets and exhibit booths, lay carpet, and create large format banners that are good for the environment? The good news is that today there are many ways to use sustainable, recycled and recyclable products to build the structural components of your events. For example, BIG SHOW has recently aligned itself with Stetson Convention Services, now considered to be the nation's leading environmentally responsible decorator, to ensure the lowest environmental impact possible. It is this forward thinking, environmentally conscious focus that will make the difference in how we all contribute to bettering our world.
Some of the structural green components include:
- Printing – soy based inks on recycled (and recyclable) materials
- Pipe and drape – refreshed and reused drape, reused pipe
- Carpeting and padding – made from recycled materials and fully recyclable into more carpeting and padding
- Banners – paper vs. PVC-based
- Table coverings – biodegradable, compostable and polyethylene free
- Wastebasket liners – biodegradable and compostable
- Cleaning products – non-toxic, biodegradable, soy base
- And so much more!
Contact BIG SHOW for more ideas and assistance to make your next event as sustainable as it is successful. WE MAKE IT EASY to be socially responsible! |
