According to the Environmental Protection Agency, convention-goers generate 730,000 tons of trash per year - enough to fill eight Transamerica Pyramids. Most of that waste - consumable items. Our Sustainability Solution At Big Show Productions we are addressing the challenges of our industry by bringing the latest technologies and vendors together to achieve social and environmental responsibility. With our partners and clients we are finding ways of saving resources and money, while contributing to the health and harmony of our workplaces and communities. By reducing our clients' negative environmental impact together, we can create a new way of doing business. The BIG SHOW 3 R's: Reason, Resource, and Repurpose When Big Show employs green resourcing, we divert materials out of landfills and bringing something new to another organization. By making a commitment to our 3R's we are making decisions throughout the supply chain. We Reason: The Practice of, "Think before ordering". The big idea at Big Show is diverting waste right from the start. For example; how can we order SWAG responsibly? How can we not date signage so it can be re-used again? How can we save more than we buy? What is the practicability of what we are giving to our attendees? And this thought process is examined at every element of our projects. We Resource: Greening our Supply Chain From our vendors and suppliers, we find the most eco-friendly materials and products on the market. Big Show is making a difference while creating a beautiful experience for our clients and their guests. Our green hospitality creates a pleasing environment with our selections of products and services. We consider the lifecycle and impact of our products, including: low energy lighting, compostable flatware, organic foods, recycled lumber, renewable resources, eco-friendly giveaways, packaging and transportation. We Repurpose: Moving Toward Zero Waste Our goal is to donate scenic elements, event signage and other elements to reduce the impact to our landfills and provide needed resources to schools, arts programs and strengthen our community relationships. We strive to see that waste is sorted and recycled. Demonstration of our efforts: Our recent event, West Coast Green & Expo, the first and largest residential green building conference, made a significant impact in their organizations and community. We offset 4.3 metric tons of CO2 emissions, had an 83% diversion waste with our floor products and saved 3,460 linear ft from entering a landfill. BIG SHOW is about making a Big Impact!
